Lobre Products: Optical Prisms
Precision optical prisms are transparent optical components with flat, polished surfaces, designed to deviate, refract or reflect light at specific angles.
Drawing on 80 years of expertise in the field, Lobre has refined and enhanced its manufacturing processes to offer fully customised design and production of optical prisms and beamsplitters, tailored to meet the specific requirements of various application sectors.
We support clients in Italy and worldwide, delivering maximum optical efficiency both for small batches and large-scale production. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information or to request a supply of custom optical prisms, available in polygonal, pentagonal and Dove formats, for vision systems and many other configurations upon request.
Custom optical prisms
Lobre offers a wide selection of optical prisms, configurable for total internal reflection or spectral dispersion.
Since 1946, Lobre has been designing and manufacturing custom high-quality supplies of optical components. Our optical engineers develop custom-made prisms including right-angle prisms, equilateral prisms, dispersive prisms, plate prisms, cube prisms, triangular prisms, Amici/roof prisms, Porro prisms, Dove prisms, Littrow prisms, Köning prisms, cube corner retroreflectors, Soleil compensators, Babinet compensators and many more.
We also produce custom beamsplitters, available in plate, cube, or fully bespoke configurations.
Polygonal Prism
In polygonal optical prisms, light is typically deflected at angles of 45°, 60°, 90° or 180°.
Pentagonal Prism
Pentagonal optical prisms ensure a constant 90° light deviation, regardless of the angle of incidence.
Dove Prism (or image derotator)
Dove prisms (also known as image derotators) are used to invert images along a single optical axis.

Application Fields
Space||Aerospace||Vision Systems||I.T.S.||Biomedical||Security||Laser||Lighting
Space and Aerospace
Precision optical prisms and prisms for optical analysis are used in telescopes, navigation systems, communication devices and more.
Vision Systems
Optical prisms for industrial vision systems are essential for optimising imaging and automated detection.
Speed Detection - I.T.S.
Optical prisms help split light beams to activate multiple sensors in intelligent traffic monitoring systems.
Biomedical
Spectroscopy prisms and imaging prisms are integrated into microscopes, tomographs and diagnostic instruments.
Security
Prisms are integrated into cameras and scanners to ensure outstanding image management.
Laser
Prisms are used to control direction and efficiently split high-energy laser beams.
Lighting
Optical prisms are employed in lighting systems to guide, refract or homogenise light.
While beamsplitters are designed to split light into multiple optical channels, prisms are ideal for beam separation, polarisation or depolarisation, image orientation and more.
This makes optical prisms highly versatile components, ideal for integration into advanced instruments across numerous cutting-edge sectors, including biomedical, lighting, vision systems, scientific research, aerospace and security.
