Advanced technologies and instrumentation
Today, our optical coating department is equipped with tools for producing sophisticated, high‑precision multilayer optical coatings. In 2019, we expanded our cleanroom space to a total of 75 m² in ISO Class 7. This contamination‑free environment is entirely dedicated to surface treatments on optical components and the assembly of complex optical systems.
Our company operates two Optotech PVD coating machines. The OPTOTECH OAC‑90F is our most recent addition: a computer‑controlled evaporative PVD system with CRYO pump, ion source, and plasma assistance. This machine, unique in Italy, allows for the deposition of multiple, effectively unlimited layers (within physical limits) with maximal precision, each layer is calibrated using real measurements from the previous layer rather than theoretical values (recipe‑based). This approach enables us to ‘tune’ each coating layer on the basis of actual measured values, achieving absolute degrees of precision. The OPTOTECH OAC‑90F can coat substrates up to 900 mm in diameter.
We also maintain several state‑of‑the‑art spectrometers to measure reflectance and transmittance, including a new Agilent Cary 5000 UV‑VIS‑NIR spectrophotometer with UMA, a PerkinElmer Lambda 950, a Filmmetrics unit, and equipment from Shimadzu.
