Thanks to the cutting-edge technologies available in the Research and Development (R&D) department of Lobre S.r.l., our engineers develop optomechanical and industrial optical projects that meet the highest standards across countless fields of application.

Materials Processed
We work with a wide range of both classic and advanced materials for the creation of traditional and complex optical systems.
We offer solutions for light transmission across the entire spectral range (UV, VIS, IR), including highly specific wavelength intervals. The main materials we use include crystalline, ceramic, and plastic substrates such as:
fused silica (UV Grade), magnesium fluoride (MgF₂), calcium fluoride (CaF₂), extra-clear optical glass, borofloat, N-BK7, sapphire, Zerodur, germanium (Ge), zinc selenide (ZnSe), zinc Sulphide (ZnS), polycarbonate, polyurethane and silicone.
Investments in Machinery
Our machinery lineup and metrology lab are constantly evolving to provide cutting-edge technologies and processes to clients in Italy and abroad.
We use a wide array of advanced CNC machines from top manufacturers such as Optotech, SatisLoh and Somos.
Our production department includes:
plasma-assisted PVD coating machines (Optotech OAC-90F and Optotech OAC-75), two ISO 7 cleanrooms (totalling 75 m²), Optotech OWI 150 interferometers equipped with Zygo MetroPro™ and OWI XT INVERS, Agilent Cary 5000 spectrophotometers with UMA system, Shimadzu and Filmmetrics instruments, Zygo ZeGage Pro HD optical profiler and roughness tester, spherometers, Trioptics Opticentric™/ Optisurf™/ Optispheric™ systems used for verifying optical centring, performing lens bonding and assessing lens assembly performance (EFL and MTF control and active alignment procedures), laminar flow hoods are also available for the assembly of optical systems.
Optical design
In collaboration with our clients, our experienced designers develop designs for both simple and complex optical components, whether intended for large-scale production or limited batches.
In addition to conventional design software, we also use ZEMAX and SOLIDWORKS.
Prototyping
Thanks to a fully integrated in-house production process, we offer rapid prototyping of new custom optical components.
We also provide a complete reverse engineering service, delivering improved prototypes based on the client’s updated requirements upon request.
Qualified Staff
Each of our in-house specialists is trained in the field of industrial optics to provide:
- optical and mechanical designs,
- production of optical components,
- application of specific coatings (including custom recipes),
- assembly and alignment of optical systems.
Since 2004, Lobre S.r.l. has held ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management system.
